The banana juice is a sweet and creamy combination of ripe banana, apple, honey and milk or water. The honey brings its subtle flavour that compliments the smoothness of banana while milk brings down its excess thickness, making it more savoury.

Admittedly, I had my doubts about trying to make a banana apple juice, I thought that it might be an awkward consistency of too thick of a drink to be a juice but too thin to qualify as the substantial flavourful smoothies those we all will love. It turns out this banana apple juice recipe is delicious. The only drawback to this drink is that you are going to dirty both your juicer and your blender. Be rest assured that it is well worth the extra dirty dishes.

Bapple juice

Ingredients

2 large bananas

1 apple, cored and chopped

1 tbsp of honey

1 ½ cups of milk or water (milk is preferable)

Directions

  • Wash the bananas and apple and dry them.
  • Peel the bananas and cut into slices. Also, peel and cut the apple into halves. Take each half and cut into medium pieces.
  • Add banana chunks, apple pieces and honey in a blender jar.
  • Add milk. Use milk for a better taste or use water to make it a low-calorie juice.
  • Blend all the ingredients together until smooth.
  • Check the consistency, if you feel that it is too thick then add more milk to dilute it and blend it again for about 5 minutes.
  • Pour it into serving glasses and served.

Tips to note

  • This filling and nutritionally dense drink have roughly 170 calories but it is also far more filling than what you are going to find bottled on store shelves.
  • It is good to be mindful when drinking your calories especially if you are watching your weight but freshly pressed fruit like this is so full of vitamins and minerals that it is a good use of your calorie intake.
  • Bananas are a fantastic source of potassium and fibre. They also contain a good amount of Vitamin C, B6 and manganese.
  • Apples are high in Vitamins and minerals C, A and B, potassium, iron and phosphorus. Various researches have shown that consuming it can aid in weight loss, healthy digestion, the prevention of cancer and the lowering of bad LDL cholesterol.
  • Consume it immediately otherwise its taste changes and turns darker in colour.
  • Do not use juicers to make it because banana contains very little amount of water compared to other fruits and it would clog the juicer.
  • Change the quality of honey to sweeten it as per your taste.
  • Add pineapple juice in place of milk for variation.
