Simple Steps On How to Make Burgers

A great burger is always about the toppings. Hamburgers are loved by so many people and can be served with beef, cheese and vegetable. Toss out those processed burger patties. Making your own burger is a lot easier and much healthier option you may want to consider, all you need do is to get freshly ground beef from your butcher and add in a little bit effort. Follow this simple steps to make your every own hamburger at home.



  • 1 pound beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • Cayenne pepper to your taste
  • 2-4 lettuce leaves
  • 2-4 burger buns
  • Ketchup to taste
  • Salad dressing to suit your taste


  • The best burgers are made from freshly ground, high grade beef chunk in a 20% fat content. If you use more fat it will just drip off the meat and the burger will be dry.
  • Turn your freshly ground beef meat in your food processor and blend together with onion and garlic
  • Turn your in mixture in a large bowl and add the egg, seasoned salt and cayenne pepper
  • Add any other ingredients you want to your burger, like Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, these ingredients are optional but they can add a special flavor to the meat.
  • Mix them together but do not overdo it so that the resulting burger will not turn hard.
  • While creating the burgers, you need to handle the meat as little as possible so you don’t squeeze out the juice. Shape the mixture into balls or desired shape using your hands
  • Press the balls down to make flat burger shapes and make a small indentation in the center of the burger with your thumb. This prevents the center from swelling, leading to uneven cooking.
  • Grill until it’s well done and slightly charred on the outside.
  • Serve over your bun with desired toppings.

Different cooking method

Homemade burgers have different method of cooking; they can be cooked with a broiler or grill, fried in skillet or frying pan or barbecued, they can also be baked. All this method depends how you prefer the taste and texture and what you have available. Whichever method you choose, after taking the patties out fridge, brush them with little cooking oil or with melted butter before cooking, below are the various cooking method you can use.

Frying pan or skillet

Add oil or butter to the pan and fry the burgers well, be sure to use low heat and a long cook to properly cook the burgers all way through. It is good to cover the pan while cooking with a lid to keep the burger juicy and moist.


Place the burger on the barbecue grill, cook as usual for hamburgers on the barbecue.


Preheat the broiler to a medium heat and line a boiler pan with foil for easier cleanup after cooking. Place the burgers in the broiler pan. Broil them for about 6-7 minutes on each side until thoroughly cooked.


Place in the oven on 350f/180c for 20 to 35minutes depending on thickness, you may like flip them over halfway testing doneness regularly.


Wash the lettuce and tomatoes.

Halve the burger buns then thinly slice the tomatoes.

Place the ketchup and mayonnaise on the table for dinners to make their own choice.



You can also serve the burger on a plate with other food such as rice, chips, mashed potato or salad. Use the mince you can buy and season well. You need some fat for flavor so 20% fat is ideal. It is important that the meat is room temperature or you keep in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking as it will cook more evenly and make for a more tender burger.
